Well it looks like Google are releasing new things all the time and their latest invention is Google Finance.
“It all started as a small project led by a few engineers in Bangalore and later joined by more engineers and finance enthusiasts in Mountain View and New York.”
Well what does Google Finance do? Well I started with visiting the site naturally and looked in to Manchester United. O.k it’s my the football (soccer) team I support and I was interested in how and what information it would bring up considering:
a) It’s a football club with many sport news stories; Would it filter these out or keep them in?
b) It’s been bought out by the Glazer family who have a number of other companies. Therefore are their links relating to the Glazer company.
c) I used to have shares with them that have now been passed over to Shareholders United.
Once you’ve entered the company name you are present with the following information:
Company Summary
I’m not sure where this information came from but it looks like Hoovers.com may have been the original source.
Company Facts
This area essentially has the address of the company. Related Companies This area has focused on competition rather than company’s that may have been related to the Glazer company. More Resources This area focuses on a discussion group about the company in question. Presently there is none for Manchester united. You’ll find more information on when you search a company like Google.
News is pretty self explanatory with the Management area displaying the key businessman involved with the company.
Overall the service is pretty good for a quick look at a company but what I think will be good is the blog spots area which is essentially a snapshot of of the first few results from Google Blog Search. Read more at googleblog.blogspot.com…
