This sadly might be true and is something I have wondered before. In a previous job i used to handle some affiliate networking etc. etc. and some sites looked terrible. I mean really bad looking stuff. Yet the ads they use to carry use to convert like crazy. It was if the more amateur the site looked the more authentic it was. Another thought why people make money with amateur sites is comes from Search Engine Roundtable.
