Filtering your feeds is a nice idea and is something I don’t actually do automatically via software. For instance I use RssReader to track/subscribe to all the RSS feeds I’m interested in. When new feeds come in I simply look at the title and decide there and then if I think it would be useful or interesting. However there is a tool named Feed Rince that enables you to “filter by; keywords, tags, author, site, profanity, and more…”, might be worth a look.

I hardly ever use IE at all, instead I use Firefox for all my surfing needs. Two of the main reasons are:- Less vulnerability issues with Firefox- The ability to have tabbed browsing with Firefox
The BBC have released information about three new bugs / vulnerability issue, one of which can be used to take control of a victim’s computer.
The BBC go on to say “Those using the patched versions of IE bundled with Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 are vulnerable to these bugs. People trying out the Beta 2 version of Internet Explorer 7 are safe.”

It seems that Google had a small problem recently with thier official blog. No need to worry though, it wasn’t a hack on Blogger, or some other kind of vulnerability. It was simply a case of deleting ones blog?!?! Can you believe that?

Have you heard that story about a blog on Blogge r where the blog was removed because it had an MSN search box? Well it looks like Mr. Cutts has published a comment via Threadwatch stating that ” Our content policies enable the widest range of expression possible. And we’re proud that Blogger users can customize their blogs in the manner that suits them best … even if that means using another search tool. ”
Well that’s nice to know.

Search engine marketing is all about making your website visible on search engines but when a SEO company starts advertising on the television what does that say about search?
Fast Web Media think it’s a good idea and have taken thier first steps with using television promote thier service with international News channel EuroNews.
Well I think it’s a great idea because it brings the idea of search engine marketing to a wider audience. Though I’m not sure the search engines themselves will appreciate it.

Well it looks like Google are releasing new things all the time and their latest invention is Google Finance.
“It all started as a small project led by a few engineers in Bangalore and later joined by more engineers and finance enthusiasts in Mountain View and New York.”
Well what does Google Finance do? Well I started with visiting the site naturally and looked in to Manchester United. O.k it’s my the football (soccer) team I support and I was interested in how and what information it would bring up considering:
a) It’s a football club with many sport news stories; Would it filter these out or keep them in?
b) It’s been bought out by the Glazer family who have a number of other companies. Therefore are their links relating to the Glazer company.
c) I used to have shares with them that have now been passed over to Shareholders United.
Once you’ve entered the company name you are present with the following information:
Company Summary
I’m not sure where this information came from but it looks like Hoovers.com may have been the original source.
Company Facts
This area essentially has the address of the company. Related Companies This area has focused on competition rather than company’s that may have been related to the Glazer company. More Resources This area focuses on a discussion group about the company in question. Presently there is none for Manchester united. You’ll find more information on when you search a company like Google.
News is pretty self explanatory with the Management area displaying the key businessman involved with the company.
Overall the service is pretty good for a quick look at a company but what I think will be good is the blog spots area which is essentially a snapshot of of the first few results from Google Blog Search. Read more at googleblog.blogspot.com…

“Yahoo! is now accepting applications for a commercial version of their (our) Shopping APIs featuring product search, price comparison, ratings & reviews, and shopping browse.”It looks very simple to intergrate with an
XML file being produced. Sadly it’s in beta at the moment but sites such as
Kelkoo use the service so you can see the results for yourself.

This sadly might be true and is something I have wondered before. In a previous job i used to handle some affiliate networking etc. etc. and some sites looked terrible. I mean really bad looking stuff. Yet the ads they use to carry use to convert like crazy. It was if the more amateur the site looked the more authentic it was. Another thought why people make money with amateur sites is comes from Search Engine Roundtable.
“The reason why it made so much money with AdSense is because it drives search traffic organically, people land on the site, and immediately want to click off. They find the nearest ad, and most attractive part of the page, which happens to be the AdSense ad, and clicks off. Phew, they are saved and they move on to a real dating site, that is both professional looking and functional.”Read more at www.seroundtable.com/ar…

Broad statement but I’ve always liked BBC’s internet services that it provides. Probably the first one I really used (apart from visiting online for news) was the using the BBC radio player. Bascially this player allowed you to play the previous days/week shows etc. From there a big jump happened and live streaming snooker was available.
Now what’s happening is you can watch extra Football focus sessions and watch the BBC news in Video and the future looks bright with Mr Highfield saying “the BBC would work with technology firms like Microsoft. He also showed off the BBC’s Integrated Media Player (iMP), designed to allow users seven-day access to TV shows.” I just hope that Apple are included and put their word in to the mix as to not let the Apple users of the UK miss out.
