The highlight of 2005

The year 2005 has been one of the hardest years of my life on all levels. However the last few months have saved it and I’m pleased to say I’ve got through another year pleased in the knowledge I’ve made more friends than enemies and that I can make plans for the future again without looking at the past. I’m not going to concentrate on the lows as Mark Higginson says on his site “It’s just a ride”. Instead I’m going to have a quick word on the personal highlight of the year for me.

The biggest highlight of the year has to be my mate Gavin Flack’s Wedding and of course the stag do. First off the Stag Do was over in Amsterdam with Andrew, Billy Gavin and of course myself. We ended up in this dodgy hotel, which was barely fit to be a stable yet, alone a hotel. The two nights we were there or was it three…I really do not know, however it was amazing. One of the great moments was the four of us next to the cannel drinking Heineken on a sunny day at the Hard Rock Café. The funniest moment was when we had the giggles in the middle of Amsterdam while it was pouring down. I seriously couldn’t stop laughing because Billy just kept making me laugh so much. Another cool time was when we were just chilling again in this nice bar. We were playing pool and darts and was just good to spend some time together. Lastly but not least our friend Billy utilised the local red light services for his first time and broke the seal. No longer was he flying first class on Richard Branson’s Virgin Airways. Back at home….

Of course the wedding was fantastic! A really happy happy happy day. The church service was brilliant and followed on by a great reception. I shared the table with Andrew & Kirsty and Jo & Tony. Billy performed an excellent speech which I did write myself simply because I heard Billy’s speech beforehand (luckily) and apart from offending and confusing everyone it was good. However take nothing form his deliverance, it was simply amazing! The evening ended up dancing to Ghostbusters, body popping and eventually partying down to some drum and bass at the Crypt with Becky, Sam, Katy and Billy with my usher suit on. Quite frankly a top time!
