Finally recovering from the messy trip of Friday night I managed to pick my senses and hit the ground running with a new drinking campaign. Included in the quest for glory and drinks was Sam, Katie, (aka The Wellards), Ryan and Sean. Andrew, the guy I went out with on Friday did not answer his phone all day. In others words he was MIA (Missing In Action). Pestering him like a Jehovah Witness all day Sam and I gave up and decided to just go ahead and meet Ryan and Sean in the Old Town.
NOTE TO SELF: Do some f-ing washing.
All is going well and we meet up with the guys at The Anchor
. Pints were the first point of call which Katie got a very fair price for. It’s surprising how people get the wrong change when you know someone behind the bar. Need I say any more? After that on to the Albion.
Now a drinking game that we play a lot is simply called Matchstick Box. I hope you don’t really have to know why it’s called that so I’ll carry on with the rules of the game. Your pint needs to be one finger length away from the edge of the table. You then have to throw the matchstick box (MB) over the pint. Now I’ll explain what can happen in certain situations:
- If the MB goes on to the floor when it’s your turn to throw I’m afraid you have to down the rest of your drink. i.e. If you throw the MB too hard and it slides of the edge of the table then you punishment is to down your drink.
- If the MB goes in to your drink or anyone else’s for that matter your have to drink the drink it lands in.
O.k the next bit is the points system. When you throw the MB your trying to either get it on is longest side i.e. the side you strike the match with, or your trying to get it on the shortest side of the MB standing up. So what does this all mean?
- Longest side means 2 fingers worth of drinking to the person on your left.
- Shortest side means 4 fingers worth of drinking to the person on your left.
Now the person to your left has to drink that unless she or he throws the MB and gets the long or short side. In that case the person to their left has to drink whatever you have thrown plus what has been added before hand. However if you throw and get the broad side of the MB then you have to drink however many fingers worth has been added. I think a better explanation of the Matchbow Game can be found here and some more drinking games as well.
O.k so that’s covered. I normally do pretty well on this game and knowing this I had a little dig and said so to the others. Foolish! Foolish! Foolish! I can’t believe I tempted fate like that ands sure enough I was drinking like a fish. There we have the first instance of what goes around comes around.
Later that evening we hit the most fun bar in Hastings, Trader Jacks run by a man called Ash. Every time I go in here lately there has been a fight and I just don’t know why? But I still like it in there and there is normally no attitude whatsoever. This place is fun because you can chuck our as many dance moves as you want regardless of style and technique. It’s a cheesey pub but I do enjoy it.
Now before I continue there is a girl behind the bar that always says hi. Which is great, but she seems to believe that she use to know me from primary school. She seems to know a few things about me that makes me believe her but I can’t honestly say I can’t remember her. What does throw me is one story about me breaking my legs and her mom coming to see me? I have never broken my legs (touch wood) and I sure hell would of known if her mum would of come to see me. Mix that in with other things she does know and I well and truly messed up. In any case she is a really nice girl and I think it would be polite to set the record straight. ‘Cause every time I go in there it’s like a major hello and stuff but I feel guilty at the same time. Your thoughts on this would be very well welcomed.
Walking to the toilets another hello was plumped on me from someone I didn’t remember. I noticed this girl when I got in to the bar straight away. Dressed for a funky night with cool fluffy boots she had the happy vibe. So when she said hello I was a little shocked especially as it started “Hi Addam, you doing?”. A major fault of mine is names and faces. I love meeting new people and at the same time it’s a killer because I forget their names. Anyway it came down to the fact she was Kelly’s friend that I met at a Christmas dinner party. Which made me feel worse ’cause I do remember that dinner party and I was sitting next to her hahahahaha. So great start so far. I also remember her boyfriend as well. He was such a good crack and as soon as she said come on over I saw him. He’s a really funny guy and loves going clubbing. He was with his friends, one of them called Simon. Simon is a really cool guy as well and DJ’s at some good places. I’m gonna try and go out with these guys asap because they really looked like they were having a great time. Kelly has told me they sometimes get out of hand, but I think it’s worth pushing the button and seeing what they like. Simon has invited me to go to a DJ session when he goes up to a gig in London at the Fridge or something like that. SO any way it was good to see Emma and Simon but yet again I’ve forgotten Emma’s boyfriends name…..Typical me!
Throwing some shapes on the dance floor is what Trader Jacks is about. I can bust with the best of them but when Sean and Ryan start bringing on cheesy master dance steps I’m afraid they’ve got the X Factor over me. It’s entertaining and fun and to be quite honest I could quite gladly watch them for a long time. A certain tune came on and the ‘Dance Off’ was executed with Sean taking the centre stage of the circle we had formed on the dance floor. One by one we flexed the angles except for Sam. She’s not in to doing that stuff really which is weird cause she is normally at the forefront of making things happened but there you go.
Trader Jacks closed and we went along to Pizza Direct. I had 6 slices of pizza! I love pizza big time. I was eating like a monster! I took a break and went to the toilet where I found a dinky little purse. I don’t understand why people would take stuff and not hand it in. I don’t know if it’s something to do with trust or whatever but as soon as I saw that purse I took it as an opportunity to help someone out and handed it in straight away. Cheesy stuff I know but I just think how good is that person going to be if they come back and find it. Equally if that person finds themself in a similar situation maybe, just maybe, she will do the right thing as well.
The night drew to a close and I got a taxi with The Wellards while Sean and Ryan got there’s after us. Overall a good night, not messy, but good.
What goes around comes around..? Sure enough, this morning, I get a phone call from me mom to say that a girl form the bar Blah Blah has my mobile phone. Someone had tried to take my phone form the table after I had left on Friday and she knew it wasn’t theirs. She only confronted them and took it off them. Bless her! Now if she’s fit….hahahaha I think that is brilliant. Haven’t gone down there yet but it just shows you that this positive vibe thing can work. I just hope to God she hasn’t had a sneak through some of the files on there. I’ll let you know how it goes along.

Unpredictable is the best way to describe last night. I arranged to meet up with my partner in crime (and alcohol abuse) for a couple of drinks. So 8.30pm at his flat I’m there, ready to go to this new bar called Blah Blah. A chocolate low lit looking bar with a funky feel is no strange thing in the likes of most major towns and cities. However I don’t live in a major town or city, I live in St. Leonards On Sea. So when I saw this place last week I was pretty pleased to see a someone trying to make things better on this side of town rather than Hastings Old Town.
Anyway we get there and order a bottle of red, which is always a great thing to do with Andrew considering none of my mates like wine not even the girls. I never really got in to wine until I borrowed the DVD collection for Cold Feet. Believe me that series made me thirst for wine, much like the film Waterworld made thirst for water.
We’re having a great time and everything, order another bottle of red, then a couple of Cosmopolitans, and then some Champagne. Now I think I can handle drink o.k. Not fantastic but alright when I want to. Champagne though is an Achilles heel for me. So hitting that bad boy was not the brightest idea. Just before we ordered though we decided to hit the cheesiest club in Hastings……..Waves. If clubbing was an art then a slugs trail on a blank canvass would be more impressive then this poor excuse for a club. However because of the mood we were in the establishment in mention would act as a great playground. So Andrew whipped the Champagne under his coat and we took to the sea front.
Now I know we got a taxi at some point to the Old Town but I’m not sure where. However what I do know is that we got in to a cab with no money. Not a problem though because there is one cash point in the Old Town that I knew we could use….Well so I thought. Looking like a fool I tried to get money out while the Taxi man was making sure we didn’t do a runner. However the stupid cash machine was broke. That meant we had to get back in the taxi to go to town which we just passed. Nevermind though a?
Eventually we get to the club. I started to gather my small belongings so I could be inspected before being allowed in to the club. Y’know much like you do at the airport, you go through the metal detector. So I get my things together like keys, wallet and….WHAT where the hell is my phone? Yep my mobile phone has actually gone mobile! Gutted cause I’ve got some cool pics on there and some personal ones that I think aren’t legal in some countries (only joking).
Clubbing was good. Like I said it was a playground so Andrew and I were just busting out some shapes that I know oozed weirdness and stupidness. It is only when your like that your personality starts flow out and set the mood for others. No sooner had I thought that, people started to crowd a little. The atmosphere started to change, I could feel the happy vibe spreading. I like that feeling a lot! You can just tell it’s going from one person to another by the way they are smiling at you and pumping out some moves etc. And no this wasn’t flirting or anything like that. It was just plain fun with people you don’t know. I always get this feeling when I go out with Andrew, Sam and Uni Mates to be honest. That’s why I try not to miss any opportunity when we can get together.
Getting home is a complete blur. I know we got a taxi but again I don’t know when or where. I do know when I got in I had some left over pizza to eat and passed out on the chair. So when I woke up this morning in a single bed with no mattress, not recognising where I was and only in my pants I was worried and still pissed. I tried to look harder where I was but couldn’t and passed out again. Waking up the second time I wasn’t so worried. I recognised the quilt and then I realised I was in the spare room. But how did I get there? Why did I go there? And more importantly who took off my jeans? These are questions that I can not answer and quite frankly I don’t want to know.
The night was unpredictable in so many ways but one sure thing that was going to happen was the fact my phone was going (1 Bottle), going (2 Bottles), gone (3 Bottles). Anyway I better start thinking of sorting tonight’s activities. Hoping to meet up with so more mates. I wonder if they like wine?…..

God I feel sick today. I’ve been a bit off colour for a few days to say the least. I wish there was something I could do about it. I’ve taken Lemsip and other tablets but they are just not doing the trick.
I hate being ill. Especially when your about to go away or anything interesting is about to happen. It just spoils it. I’m going to take it real easy and try not let down my brother. I should really stay at home but I would feel terrible if I let down my brother. I know how much he wants me to go, not only for him but I think he thinks I need to just get away for a while. To be honest he’s right and that is what makes my illness worse.
I’ve gone and got my hair cut this morning for two reasons. One I’m starting a new job on Monday with a company called Spannerworks and two for going away. I started off in the early morning so I wouldn’t be late for my brother. I want this to be a stress freeeeeee weekend for him and starting off being late is something he can’t stand. He’s always a bit edgy at first because even though Wayne sort of organises it, I think Gary just can’t turn off until he see’s everyone is alright. It is something that can be overbearing and annoying. However in the big picture if everyone did this the world would be a safer place and that’s not a bad thing. It’s nice to see people care for one another. It’s even better to know he’s my brother!
After leaving about 7.45am

this morning for a good ol’ walk to Clippers I got back feeling worse. Which is a really bad sign because getting some fresh air normally does me the world of good. Anyway I’m going to see if I can get some sleep before we leave. I have now been told that we’re leaving much later than 10 as I was lead to believe and 14:00 hours (military style) seems like more like our departure time. So it’s beddy byes from me…
P.S. If your not sure what to do on Sunday evening watch The Match on Sky One. Legends v Celebs it’s been really good this year. Of course there is an England match on Saturday to watch first.

Something I have noticed since starting using Blogger is the fact that your can not categorise your blogs and have sub levels etc. It’s a real shame because I think the set-up in other areas is brilliant.
I love the interface, the way it publishes your blogs in separate html files, and the easiness of it all. Uploading files and utilising template styles etc. Makes this a great publishing tool. I believe there is probably a Blogger Hack of some kind that could help but I don’t seem to be able to find one suitable.
If your having the same problems as I am you may find a solution that fits the bill in these links. Now I’m not too keen on them because I wanted a fully intergrated tool. Any how here are some links that may help you:
- O’Reilys Blogging Hack: This offers the basic alternative.
- BlogHarbor: Well if you can’t beat them leave them! So harsh is this problem other companies are preying on the weak point of blogger and offering their service at a cost.
- Blogger: Well even Blogger have posted an idea from one of their users about using del.icio.us bookmark service.
On the O’Reilys page it said something about the API, so I’m going to look in to that and see if there is something I can bite my teeth in to there. Maybe there will be a PHP opportunity there. What I’m really hoping for is that someone will notice this article and answer my prayers.
The search will go on…

Well the morning has come and I must admit I’m a little tired still. However the first thing I thought of was to get on blogging. However before I did that I wanted to see if anyone in Hastings and St. Leonards On Sea was blogging as well? Low and behold I found a guy who was! The cool thing is, is that he’s in to the whole Internet thing as well. He introduces himself on his website by saying.
“My name is Edward Clarke and I am an IT Consultant based in Hastings, East Sussex, UK”
The website looks great as is really the first time I’ve seen another web developer in Hastings that doesn’t look like a Friday-Ad cowboy. There are some very interesting articles but one that stands out for me is “Tableless design and layouts“. This is something I do not do and many other developers are guilty of as well.
Overall though there are many cool little things on the site and if you’ve just started blogging on your site I would recommend having at look at TN38.

Well I met Gibbo at about 8.05pm and I wasn’t late thank god. When I got down there it did seems that I might of been late. I noticed someone on the other side of the station standing around. I went over to make sure it wasn’t Gibbo and luckily it wasn’t. How bad would that had been me being late? Especially since St. Leonards Warrior Square station isn’t the best of places to be of an evening. Fortune was on my side and the train was late.
Gibbo had journeyed down with Becky and once he got off the train I was so pleased to see him. It’s always great to see mates naturally but uni mates are a little different. On the way back I was sweating like no mans business. I should of learned the two times I went to Brighton recently that I do not need my heavy winter coat even if it is a little chilly or rainy. By the time we were on my street I think I drenched my clothes. A nice image huh?
Getting in we started talking websites and Gibbo showed me a secret site that he had not shown many people. It was his own blog site that rats on a political side primarily. The site is called The Fourth Place. Check it out if you can. It’s been going for a year or so and is basically him ranting on. However that’s him and I love it!
Now after we had freshened up like a couple of girls we went to meet the others in Whetherspoons (in town). Having a drink in there the typical route is then French’s, Traders and The Crypt which is a club.
Allison, my mate’s sister was down the crypt as well. Now we sort of get along and don’t sometimes but when we’re out we do chat. Chat for a long time actually and it was really good. We had a lot to talk about, that I can’t really discuss here for fear of offending people but we do have the same views on a level or two. She seems to have changed a little from when I first knew her and it has been for the better I must say. She seemed to accept more ideas and joke more. Overall I hope to see her again enjoying herself. Might be cheeky and ask her to buy me a drink. Somehow I don’t think that is going to happen.
Anyway it was Sam’s Birthday night and some of the girl crew was out. Naturally Katie, Sam’s sister was out with Jo and Mads making fine appearances! It was pretty good fun but not the normal messy nights. Well messy is the wrong word as I did see a large amount of puke outside a taxi cab. The poor guy had been sick in the car as well and was trying to clear it up. The drive was clearly not happy and even tried to drive off with the car door open and the man who was sick on the floor leaning over the side in to the car where you place your feet. I wasn’t sure whether to go over and help. However before I could do anything the drunken dude started to get up. Hope he got home o.k.
Well Gibbo and I made our way home equipped with burgers. I switched on the telly and watched Diagnosis Murder after which I thought I’d write this post. Time for bed. Night Night readers (yeah right like there is any at the moment!).
